Every year more and more homes and businesses are embracing the Internet of Things (IoT) - and for good reason: connected devices make our lives so much more convenient.
The downside, however, is that many of the network devices found in homes, including routers, often ship with security vulnerabilities.
Pangolin is an edge security device that sits behind your modem or router to protect all of the smart devices connected to your network. It helps stop malicious hackers from attacking your devices, stealing your information, and invading your privacy.
Pangolin protects your devices by understanding your network traffic. We have implemented enterprise-grade anti-hacking software within Pangolin to scan, prevent, and remediate situations involving malware. We also prevent phishing attacks on you and your family or business.
Because IoT devices usually tend to favor ease of use over privacy and data security concerns, the rate at which large-scale vulnerabilities and breaches are increasing every year. Take for example the instance of a toy bear smart device that was secretly spying on conversations in the home (see below). In another example, some security experts were even able to hack into a smart home speaker and get it to listen and send transcriptions to a third-party server.
Pangolin also acts as an intrusion detection and prevention system that automatically blocks potential threats. However, instead of you needing advanced knowledge about network security, we make things much easier.
As soon as any threat is detected, Pangolin blocks it automatically. It then sends you a notification on the companion app. After that, all you’ve got to do is take a look and choose whether to continue blocking or allow the suspicious connection to go through.
